Scented Soy Candles
Thank
you for considering our collection of scented soy candles! Our highly scented candles are
made using 100% soy wax for our soy
jar candles,and soy
tealights.
Our scented
soy tarts and soy
votive candles
are made with soy
wax that has had other completely natural additives added to it in
order to make it more firm, since soy wax is an extremely soft wax.
We use all natural cotton or paper core wicks, and most of our
fragrance oils are soy based formulated specifically for soy wax candles. |
Why Buy Our Scented Soy Candles
Using
soy candles is a great way to help
our environment and our
farmers! Unlike paraffin wax, soy wax comes from
right here
in the USA from our own soybean farmers.
So in addition to
using
a completely natural soy wax that is safe for you, is a renewable,
sustainable resource, and gives us a little less dependence on crude
oil, it also helps our own US economy by helping our farmers.
You'll also find that our scented soy candles burn up to twice as long
as paraffin candles. For example, our soy
tealights burn from 7-8 hours!
Compare that to a normal paraffin tealight that only burns for 4 hours
at most
(believe me, I've tested!). This is because soy wax has a
much
lower melting point and in turn, burns cooler than paraffin wax.
You will also get little to no soot when burned properly and soy wax is much easier to clean
up if spilled! Just take a little soap and water and possibly a hair dryer and- Whala!
No
more hard, dried paraffin wax that may take scissors to cut it out of
the carpet!
You may be concerned about soy candles being higher priced than
paraffin candles,,, well, just consider how much longer they burn, for
example our soy tealights, which burn almost twice as long, and do the
math. I think you'll find that our scented soy candles are more cost
effective in the long run.

Proper burning of our soy candles
Yes, there is a proper way to burn soy candles.
Soy candle wax has what's called a memory. That means that when you
burn your candle and then extinguish it, the next time you burn it, the
candle wax will melt across as far as it did the first time. This is
why it is so important to allow soy candles to burn all the way across
to the edge of the container the first time you burn it before putting
it out. This ensures that your soy candle does not "tunnel" as it
burns, leaving wax along the sides of the container. A good rule
of thumb is to burn your candle 1hr for every inch wide that the candle
is. So if you have a 3inch wide soy candle, you may need to burn it for
at least 3 hours for a good melt pool.
Speaking of melt pools... This is where the scent is in scented soy
candles. A good melt pool will give off the best fragrance throw.
1/4in deep for the melt pool is what we aim for in our soy
candles when the candle is burning. Too shallow of a melt pool will
keep the candle from releasing the best amount of fragrance into the
room. Too deep of a melt pool means the wick is too big for the candle
and the candle will burn too hot , which means the soy candle wax will
burn up too fast and the wick would need to be trimmed much more often.
Another tip is to keep your candle away from drafts to prevent smoking
and soot. Soy candles produce little to no soot when burned properly,
but any candle will smoke and create soot if exposed to too much air,
which is what happens if there is a draft.
Keeping your wick trimmed to about 1/4in. will also keep your candle from smoking and causing soot.
And most importantly, keep your soy candles away from anything flameable, and out of reach of children and pets.

About the Scent and Color in our Scented Soy
Candles
Soy Candle Scent
Our
scented soy candles do contain fragrance and dye unless you order
them without, so we do not claim that our candles are 100% natural
unless they are not scented and uncolored, or if they contain essential
oils instead of fragrance oils and no dye.
We do not carry soy candles
scented with essential oils at this time, since essential oils are much
more expensive, although we plan to carry them in the future.
Scented soy candles give off the best fragrance "throw" when allowed to
cure for 3-4 days after pouring. This is why it may take a
few days for us to ship your order. We want our soy candles to perform
their best when they reach you! And we know that you want to be able to
light your candles when you get them and not have to wait! (We know how
hard it is to have an incredibly scented candle sitting there and have
to wait a few days to light it!)
Soy Candle Color
You may notice some variations in the color of soy candles,
especially candles that use 100% soy wax with no other additives. This
is called "frosting". It looks like small, whitish crystals that form
on the top of the wax or the sides of the jar. It is similar to how
chocolate sometimes forms that white frosted look. We try to minimize
this as much as possible, but it is very normal for soy wax to do, and
many people actually like the way it looks, or look for it as a sign
that it is a soy candle and not made with paraffin wax.
Many candles that claim to be soy are actually made with paraffin added
to eliminate frosting. There are also soy candles made with other
natural oil additives to help eliminate frosting too. We are in the
process of testing with this kind of natural blend wax and may offer
this soy blend
for our container candles along side our 100%
soy candles.
Our scented soy
votive candles and soy
tarts/melts are made with a 99%
soy wax
blend with natural oils added to help it release from the mold.
These do not tend to frost.
We hope that you will see the many benefits of using our scented soy
candles! You can feel good knowing you are doing a part to
help our US economy and the environment by going soy so try our homemade candles today! |
