A Little About Us,My name is Melissa Hall, and I am the candlemaker in our home business, Homemade Candle Creations. My husband is only supportively involved so far, but if the candle orders start rolling in, who knows, he may start to help out with making them at times, or at least packaging them for shipping. Our boys aren't old enough to help out yet, but the oldest always tells me that my candles that I made "look very nice mommy" or he'll say "I really love the new candle that you made". He says it with all sincerity too,, it's so cute. Our youngest likes to smell them, and just thinks it's funny when he does. I have always loved candles, and one day I decided I wanted to try making my own candles. As I was searching online about homemade candles, I found out more about soy candles and their many wonderfull benefits, including being much easier to clean-up! So I ordered a 5lb soy candle making kit off of ebay as a birthday present to myself (-: and made my first candles, which turned out really well and I found that I really enjoyed making them. So I decided that this might be a good business opportunity for me, since it is always best to work at something you really enjoy. I am an artist by nature anyway(see my other site http://www.higherfocusart.com), and have always enjoyed drawing and painting ever since I can remember. Candlemaking is another form of art, and I love trying to come up with different scents and color combinations. I enjoy cooking too and candlemaking is alot like cooking a recipe or coming up with your own recipes. It is very exciting finding new and different kinds of candle containers at various places. Whenever I'm at a second hand store or garage sale I have my eyes peeled looking for any interesting glasses or glass containers that I could use for a beautifull homemade candle. Well, to go on with my story, I am a stay at home mom and had been looking for something that I could do from home to supplement our income. I have always wanted to have my own business, and I first started a few years ago selling my paintings on ebay. (Actually, I guess you could say I started back when I was in junior high, giving horseback riding lessons, which I did for about 7 years, and also doing some horse training). I haven't sold enough to make a good part time income, but with two young boys it can be tough trying to sit down and paint for any length of time unless it is late at night. So, although I will continue to paint when I can and sell my paintings, making homemade candles has proven to be something that I can do with the kids underfoot fairly easily and it is something I really enjoy, and can use my artistic talent not only in making the candles, but also doing some etching of artwork on the glass containers, which I look forward to trying very soon! Another enjoyment of mine as far as my business goes, is working on my websites. I have always loved computers(sometimes it's more of a love/hate relationship), and have always been one to dig for information untill it feels like my little brain might explode! I have built 3 websites so far from scratch, this one being my 3rd, and I must say the easiest one to put together so far, so I think I'm getting the hang of website building. Again, it is another form of art! What can I say, I love being artistic!
